  • Vascular Surgery is a specialised field in medicine which involves the treatment of disorders of arteries and veins. Vascular Surgeons use medical management, minimally invasive procedures (endovascular surgery) and surgical reconstructions to treat vascular diseases.

    Vascular surgery is a recognised subspecialty within the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Vascular Surgeons in Australia undergo an intense international training program and pass a rigorous series of exams to become a qualified Vascular Surgeon.

    In addition to managing patients with vascular disease, Vascular Surgeons are often called upon by other specialties to assist in complex cases involving major blood vessels or in traumatic injuries to stop catastrophic bleeding.

    When you come to your appointment please wear comfortable clothes which can be easily adjusted to allow a thorough physical examination.

    If you have wounds or ulcers, please be prepared to have these reviewed by Dr Robertson during your clinic appointment.

    After your appointment, Dr Robertson will arrange for you to undergo any further investigations required for your condition and create a personalised treatment plan which may include a minimally invasive procedure (endovascular surgery), an open surgical operation, or conservative management based on your individual condition and situation.
